What to do for first start

What to do to a truck that's been sitting for about two years. Meaning before first start, besides gas and starter fluid.
I've done a tune up, new fan clutch, waterpump, ps pump, new gaskets, anything I should or shouldn't do? Thanks.

Pull the distributor and prime the oil pump.

If you didn't rebuild the carb or at least empty the fuel bowls, old gas will be in there. I'd clean that out.

Buy some sea foam
pour mostly all of it into the tank
pour a little bit into the carb
new filters
maybe new hose lines

I always pull the plugs out one at a time and put some marvel mystery oil in there and let it sit overnight. Otherwise fresh gas and make sure it has oil in it, is all I've ever done.
After I know it will start I'll pull the vacuum tube from the brake booster and pour seafoam in it and dump some in the gas tank. Start it with that stuff in there and spray the living fire out of the carb with carb cleaner while someone revs it for me to keep it from dieing out. Then sit back and watch the smoke show.

I would suggest removing the plugs and add oil to each cylinder to lubricate the cylinder walls and loosen any stuck rings before start-up.

YES!!!!!!!

in addition, id pull the positive lead to the dist after doing the above and turn her over several times, dont set the choke and fire it right up, it will run dry at first and damage a whole mess of things.

sea foam....ugghhh.....u want my opinion? just do as these two guys said, no special addatives or voo doo dances, plugs, coolant, fresh fuel, pretty basic my friend. ITS A CHEVY.

ps, starter fluid i wouldent use, if everythings done right, u wont need it.

No. Ur tank has "settled" if u drop it and shake shell prob leak or start sending debris down the line. Keep it installed, give a FULL tank of some quality fuel, 76 or shell will do. Dont use arco if u ask me.

How much oil? Just a sploosh lol 2 caps full or so, if u have access to a oral syringe.. ORAL syringe.. No needles! Use that tobinject, if non avaible just use a funnel. Too much oil will foul plugs, just primpe the pump, sploosh some oil, crank with no plugs, install plugs, should b good.

Ok, poured five gallons of gas in the tank, and two spray can tops of gas in the carb. Still will not start, but turns over. What am I doing wrong here?
Should I try some starter fluid/ether?
I only have one five gallon tank now, so is that not enough to start it. Or do I need about another five gallons just to start it?
Battery is new interstate. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

My tank holds 7 gallons when empty (tested it twice). It is after market though. Never use Ether! IMOA That stuff is for diesels. If everything is right you can diagnose by spraying a liberal amount of carb cleaner in the carb and crank it. If it starts and stops running then you have a fuel issue. I assume you have compression and spark?

Tank overflowed with gas, that wasn't the issue. Spark plug wires are right firing order (double checked) Distrib cap is slightly crooked on the driver side (meaning its not perfectly straight, tried to install straight but it would not notch.
Disconnected fuel filter line at carb, no strong smell of fuel.
Could this be a fuel pump/fuel filter issue? Both were replaced in '08 and worked great in oct '10, last time driving the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I have dual tanks which was bypassed to the passenger side.
Carb is an edelbrock 4 barrel 1406, 305 dual exhaust.

Forgot started truck in sept '11 so, its been sitting since then. So, it hasn't been that long sitting.
