Question Making my '66 C10 4 wheel drive? Best way?

I'm contemplating making my stock original 1966 chevy pickup and converting it to 4 wheel drive. What's the most economical way of doing this? I'd guess to say finding a transfer case for my truck would be pretty hard right? Would swapping to say an early to mid 70s blazer frame work? Could I keep my factory dash and interior? I tried looking for specific info on conversions but came up empty! Help me out! And no I don't want to buy another truck...

How nice is it currently? Post a pic. It may not be worth messing with this one if you can find a factory 4x4 '66 instead.

i dont know if you have a short or long bed but a blazer wheel base is about 9-10 inches shorter than a swb

There are a couple ways of doing this, the best and probably easiest is to find a 4x4 frame the same vintage and swap cabs.... I wouldn't even consider making a 2wd frame into a 4x4 .... To many things to change.... Second would be the route I had to go with ... Mount the cab and bed to a 73-87 suburban frame.... The wheelbase is with in 2" of a LWB and the frames are easy to find... Check out my thread titled 61 GMC 4x4 1 ton.

Last resort mount your cab to a 73-87 truck frame but be prepaired for ALOT of work

Make sure you will not run into trouble with your state DMV if you end up with a non-matching frame & cab vin. Every state is different, you should be able to get more info for your own state at this link.........

http://www.bipac.net/page.asp?conten...olbox&g=SEMAGA

I hope that link works....when I type it in it says "content=tag_title_toolbox&g=SEMAGA" but when I post it looks abreviated? the website shows the laws for each state

I would not change the frame, for a few different reasons, one being the titling and licensing issue stated above.

This is how I would go about converting to a 4x4......
