Anyone ordered parts from Western Chassis lately?

Have been researching lowering components for my '87 C10. The spindle that Western makes should be a better fit. So I look into "out of state" buying options. eBay currently has only 1 seller (a Calif. seller =bad for me). Summit is out of stock, what?
Currently waiting to see if Summit gets a re-stock.
Does the Western spindle actually give a better clearance for the 15" steel OEM rim?

Yes is does....you will not have any rubbing issues on the control arm......i had them on my 84

Can't you just order directly from them?

I bought spindles last summer and as bbbc10 said, there will be no issues. i tired factory rally wheels 15x7 and 15x8 with neither wheel even close to rubbing

Order direct is an option , but I will pay an extra 8-9 %
Thus the Summit option.

You say "you will not have any rubbing issues on the control arm......i had them on my 84" yet you don't say what back spacing you had.
Interference w/the control arm depends on the back spacing. Always has, always will.

Just to clarify and confirm, real GM 8" rallys with 4.25" backspacing do not hit control arms when using Western Chassis spindles?

That means the the wheels must stick out a little further than with McGaughy's spindles. What size tire did you use to clear the fender lip?

I like the western chassis spindles. I used them on two different trucks with 15x8 rallies and no clearance issues. These were both 1 1/4" heavy duty rotor spindles. I do not have experience with 1" rotor spindles . One had 255/70/15 and one had 255/60/15 tires. Both sizes were in a BF Goodrich Radial TA.

My rotors are 1". I wonder if the 1.25" rotors place the wheel mounting surface farther outboard. ??? But it wouldn't be a big expense to upgrade to 1.25", since I was thinking of buying some loaded calipers anyway. Would only need to add inner wheel bearings and rotors. One of my rotors could stand replacing, so might as well buy two larger ones!

correct. that is half the reason i went with WC. ive never heard of anybody having clearance issues that i can remember reading about with western chassis

205/60/15 is the only tires ive used. thats on the 15x7 rally. they arent even close to touching the fender. the 15x8s were just wheels to see if they cleared the control arm

Does anyone have pic's of or access to older examples of Western Chassis spindles? I have a set with an old C-10 purchased in the 1990's and the castings and markings are similar.

Well - something is amiss.
Western Chassis & now Performance Online (the new owner of Western) have told Summit they cannot re-stock the spindles until the first week of April !
6 weeks ? What is going on?
What would be the next spindle option?

I must have gotten one of the last WC sets from Summit at the end of last month. I'm very happy with the fit. Hopefully the new owners continue the same design.

It depends on what size wheel you want to run. If it's a 15 inch rally wheel then I'd say wait the 6 weeks. It will go by fast. If you run belltec spindles with rallies you will be trimming the lca's.

Glad to hear Early Classic Enterprises has 73-87 spindles. It used to be they made only 60-72 parts.

I bought some suspension stuff from them back around Y2K for my 69 C10 that my son now owns, inlcuding adjustable track bar, rear shock relocation brackets, front and rear springs, and shorter shocks. Very high quality parts and great tech support!

I don't know if this is still true, but they used to make, or at least final machine, their spindles in California.

Their $249 price for 73-87 spindles is fair, but shipping to north Texas is $66. Ouch!

Hope to see them offer some more parts for Squares, and update their on-line catalog.

I look at spindle interference as a "design flaw" -
If this small issue has not been rectified - then what else is "not correct"?
With today's computer power and rapid design ... there is just no excuse to sell such a product.

BTW - Western Chassis / Performance is having a 10% off sale. I can order direct - with shipping AND tax added. After researching their customer service record , I am just not ready to take this option.

I just now ordered the Western Chassis 2.5" drop spindles for 73-87 C10 with 1.25" rotors. $239 including shipping on their eBay site.

If the lower control arms don't clear my 8" rally wheels, I'm gonna come lookin' for someone.

Interesting that both Western and ECE are located in Fresno, CA.

Western is now located in Corona, CA
