Little help needed

Mods please do not move this thread I need it to get viewed as much as possible.....

I'm needing some serious help...I purchased a truck from a guy in the great falls Montana area and sent him 1200 of the 1500 agreed upon price...was going to send the rest when I secured shipping and all to have it delivered... Well since this he has stopped responding to my calls and it appears has changed his phone number so know when I call it has a young girl on the voice mail prompt...the truck is a 1960 apache long wheel base it is located in sand coulee, Montana from the address I sent the check too....I have the address where I sent the money and if anyone lives close to there and would take a ride by there to see if it is sitting there I would refund gas money or trade parts if I have for your trouble and time...I'm normally a 67-72 guy and know this side of the forum gets the most views...any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Little help needed

As a mod for this area, I will leave this for now but admin's above me could decide to move or delete. Do not post any personal info about the seller. If anyone can help out, PM the OP directly. I hope it works out for you but I think you just learned a very valuable lesson about buying anything you are not personally in front of.

My advice to anyone buying something they cannot do a personal face to face transaction is, never send more money then you are willing to walk away from.

Anyone able to help out a fellow trucker?

Geesh, hopefully someone out there will help this guy out. That has happened to me on a much smaller scale but these dishonest people need to be uncovered. Good luck.

Re: Little help needed

It looks like its only about 20 miles from Great Falls. You maybe could do a search for a member in that area and see if they could swing by for you. I'll be going through there in about 6 weeks but on I90 which is about 100 miles out of the way.

Re: Little help needed

I agree with what one of the mods said....you never want to buy something you have never seen in person, at least you sent a check. There are measures you can take to stop the check from going through if worse case. I have been scammed several times on craigslist, as a seller. Every time I would purchase something I would make sure to do it in person. If you don't know them, don't trust them. NO offence to anyone who reads this. But you just can't tell truthful people from scam artists sometimes. I have purchased parts from members here through e-mail and I have had no issues....one reason I like this forum is the members are all very helpful and trustworthy. Anyhow nice truck and hope alll works out. Hopefully it is just a delay in something.

Put a stop on the check if it is not to late. And don't trust anyone.

That's good news. Still think the guy should have been more responsible and communicated a little better. Probably cost you a couple sleepless nights and little aggravation.

Re: Little help needed

Truck was listed by the actual owners son in law and yes he changed his number...to get a hold of the actual owner I did a reverse look up using his address on whitepages because I had sent him the money and got his phone number which was listed in his wife's name....I called it and got ahold of the actual owner....I also found the son in law, daughter, and wife on Facebook and sent each a friend request plus a message.....I was going to track down one way or another....have a friend that lives about 100 miles away that I was going to fly out and stay with while I tracked it down if it came to it....luckily it didn't
