A Longhorn, for real???

Boy, the Longhorn name went from being a cool work truck in our truck's era to being some luxo-Dodge POS now. Got an ad in the mail today for the Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn. Eww!

From this:

Oh and one more burn for mopar, I'm gonna use a repro mopar pistolgrip shifter hooked to a 6speed behind a Pontiac, thats all GM muscle there.

Re: A Longhorn, for real???

I think it's a real nice looking truck, but I'm biased because my daily driver is an 08 Dodge 2500 Cummins TD. I feel about trucks the way I feel about women. I love blondes (66-72 Chevy's) but the brunettes like this late model Dodge are real nice too.

Re: A Longhorn, for real???

I saw the same ad. Personally I like Dodge trucks when they have a Cummins and a 6 speed manual in them...but thats about it. This "Longhorn" package they came out with is to compete with the Furd King Ranch package. This Dodge has all kinds of crazy stitching in the seats, shiny buckles and trim that makes it different. I don't know why manufactures try to give something a "Texas" theme and then make it look totally dumb (I've lived here all my life and I have no desire to own a truck with all that crap on it)! Available in 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton short bed, long bed, but NOT and 8.5 foot bed!

Re: A Longhorn, for real???

Trucks with no personality have to dig up good names. They also dug up the Bighorn name, which was a cool rare large long nose heavy truck. They even destroy their own legends to sell their new boring dime a dozen crap.

Re: A Longhorn, for real???

We had one in the shop the other day with longhorn badges on it and was in no way like this truck. Pretty basic 2500 4x4 reg cab I noticed it and wondered if it measured up so I measured the bed and it was 8.5 ft. Kinda threw me for a loop, wondering wtf? We had to put a new bed on due to a accident. Still have old one at work. Ill measure it and take pic if i get a chance.

It bugs me when they use a cool old name on a newer vehicle. I had a 69 AMX when I was a kid and when AMC rebadged a Spirit an AMX in 79 (?) I bout puked.

No kidding! The words "Shelby" and "Charger" do NOT belong on this poor excuse for a muscle car! I'm not a furd fan and it even offended me years ago (the late 60s Chargers are pretty cool though).
