rebuilding front driveshaft 3/4 ton 4x4

Hi All,

I am ignorant on working on 4x4, so I tried to take my front driveshaft from my 67 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban to a driveline shop, and the guy quoted me a rebuild price of $400!!!!!

That just seems way out of line to me as I have spent $150-$200 for new driveshafts.

What do you other 4x4er do? Is it easy to rebuild these? I know how to replace ujoints, but there is a knuckle piece on this shaft that appears to be shot.

Thanks!!!
