blower switch
What is the STOCK location of the blower switch on a 71 truck? I have looked at dozens of trucks on here and evilbay and have not seen where they are mounted, heck most of the time I don't see one at all. Mine is under the heater controls screwed to the dash. My truck does not have a/c. Thanks in advance.

Original ones are part of the heater control unit located in the dash. Connected to the levers. LockDoc

Ok, I rebuilt my levers and noticed some type of an electrical connector attached to the assembly. That's where it goes? How do you move the lever to adjust the fan speed? I don't temember seeing anywhere to attach the switch to a lever. Does anyone have a pic?

The switch has an arm with a pin on it, it bolts to the side of the control with the plug facing out and the arm going in toward the levers the center lever has a "track" that the pin fits into it also has a plastic bushing that fits over the pin.

I do remember the "fat" lever having a groove in it and replacing a plastic bushing. I guess I just didn't realize that was the old switch "in pieces". The PO I guess just screwed the switch to the dash and I didn't know any better. Thanks guys.

I don't know why, but i keep running across this.
my truck for example, had a 3 position switch mounted in place of the cigarette lighter, with a custom bracket and large knob to hide the fact it was wrong. The PO went through all the trouble of fabbing this up, rather than just replacing the $7 switch. I don't get it

At least the PO of my truck used the correct switch. I guess he didn't put it back in the right spot becasue all the levers were broke. Oh well, just one more thing to correct.

that opens up the vent
Lever all the way to the left, closed vent, blower off Lever 1/2 way, vent open, blower off After that, sliding to the right, you have low, med, and hi. |

Biff, that's exactly where mine was located. I guess the PO didn't mount it there cause he told me that was the stock GM mounting location.
