I am thinking of taking the factory gauges out of the 72 and replacing with updated newer gauges. Have any of you done this...if so do you have any pics I can see before I make my mind up? Thanks Don

There is quite a few folks doing these. Depends on your taste in gauges. Good luck with the project.

That is the same setup I am going with in the Cheyenne Killer. For some odd reason my truck was only optioned with the idiot lights.

jackyl9999 - is that a dimmer switch on top of the clock? Did you get those pre- made or did you order those separately? It looks really nice.

Re: new gauges...pics please

That is my high beam indicator above the clock. I bought the gauges, a new new bezel, got 1 piece of lexan, and a aluminum plate to mount the clock in. It was quite a project. btw the turn signal and high beam ind. are painless lights. Thanks !

Killer71,

Did you have to mix and match those autometer gauges? I was under the impression that the quad gauge only came in a kit of sorts. I've been wanting to do the same set up with black face gauges. Not trying to hijack anything here post wise, just curious.

Here's my set up Covan's panel with Autometer Ultralites. A bit $$$ but I like them, way more accurate than the factory gages !!

I'm curious where you found these? I am only seeing them sold as a kit, tach with quad or MPH with quad were you able to buy them as seperate gauges? Also are the sizes you used 5" for the tach and MPH and 3 3/8 for the quad?

Thanks,

-Fred

Re: new gauges...pics please

Here are the AutoMeter Phantom guages I am using (I later swapped the tack and speedo to the opposite positions).

http://autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail...earch&gid=3591

3-3/8" quad guage Autometer part # 1312 (or #1612 or there are others)

http://autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail...earch&gid=3483

5" Tach Autometer part # 1399

http://autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail...earch&gid=3308

5" Speedo (elec, programmable) Autometer part # 1389

He's doing a GenIII swap also, I think gringoloco is too (?), so we can get away w/electric speedos.

I need to screw around some more and find something fitting for me. I'll miss the old blinkers unless I can find someway to mount them somewhere.

If you want to buy these parts separately, go to jegs.com or summitracing.com and type in the four-digit number of the Autometer part, and you'll find it there.
