Bought the Purple Hornies

Have a set coming from Summit. I had be thinking about these two mufflers. The red ones are Thrush made by Magnaflow and sound more like a ratty glasspack. The Hornies are a lower deep tone as per the guy at Summit and he did say he has heard both. If these don't sound to my liking I will go back to my Supertrapps or go to an old turbo muffler. Oh the red ones where 80 a piece and the hornies where 70 a pair.

Re: Bought the Purple Hornies

Yes they bolt to the collector but since I have the transfer casr right there I won't be able to do that. I am cutting the end off and going to use a clamp or weld in time.

Re: Bought the Purple Hornies

Man!! I havent seen those in years, I had the exact same Purple Hornies on my 72 AMX back in 1979. In fact I still have a couple of the tickets I got with them somewhere.

Re: Bought the Purple Hornies

What kind of a warranty did you get?

For your benefit I hope I'm wrong, but unless they've changed the stuffing in the last 3.5 decades, the header exh heat will melt the glass right out of them in no time.

Then you can expect both a headache and a traffic ticket whenever you drive it on a public road.

Re: Bought the Purple Hornies

The hornies should sound good... I have some "custom exhaust" on my 2wd that consists of: Full length headers, 3" Cherrybomb Glasspacks, and some chrome turndown tips. They're loud but I'm still young, and it sounds like a funnycar pulling up to you at a stop light! They're badass!
