New Shoes for Blue- Before & After Pics

Well, just got done with a bunch of work courtesy of a '75 donor truck, ECE and NAPA. Here's what got done:

ECE 2.5" Drop Spindle
ECE 4" Drop Rear Springs
ECE Adjustable Trac Bar
ECE Shock Relocator Kit
KYB GR-2 Shocks
All new front suspension components
5 lug conversion
Used Rallyes with a fresh coat of paint (and yes, the center caps are currently GMC....)
BFG Radial T/A's

I'm floored by the difference in the ride.

Is it better?

How hard is it to change the spindles?

Looks great by the way.....

Ole Blu 68, the truck looks great. The build sheet you provided is actually the same I have for my current build (minus the shocks). Thanks for the pic, now I have an idea of what I will have when finished. Tell us about the ride difference.

Very nice work! I'm not usually a lowered truck guy, but am amazed at how much better that looks over stock. Nice!!

Re: New Shoes for Blue- Before & After Pics

Thanks everybody!

Before getting this done, "Ole Blue" handled like an ole truck even with the benefit of power steering and brakes. The steering was vague, the suspension soaked up bumps like an ox cart and stopping could be downright scary sometimes. Now, the steering is dead on and tight, the suspension soaks up bumps and, when I jam on the brake pedal, I actually stop.

I drove all over last night and the hardest thing to get used to was how quiet it was inside the cab..except for the exhaust note.

The old tires were 235/70/15 (I think) Bridgestone Dueler AT's. They were replaced with BFG's; 275/60/15 in the back and 255/60/15 in the front based on the recommendations by forum members. So, going wider plus switching from a truck type tire to a street type tire probably has also helped with the ride.

Did you do a bunch of cab insulating too?

None.

I don't know about your ride but the bed on mine used to clatter everytime I went over a bump. That is GONE.

speedo should be dead on still. The old 235's were 27.95275632 overall (inches) and the new 275's are 27.9921264 inches. Less than 3 hundredths bigger. practically the exact same sizes. Just FYI
