Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

So I am ready to get this thing going already. I may have a hood coming from a member on here so I am pumped to get this in my garage and do it some real justice. My child support should be paid off in a couple months. Woohoo! Is it ever really paid off? Well the police cannot take my license or threaten me in any way anymore. It's a good feeling. So my original baby will get some much needed attention. A new shop will be built in the back yard. Nothing real big just a place to keep my tools and all the junk in the garage. Then The Blazer will take it's rightful place in the garage next to the 58. Not sure what to do with the double wall extra top. Was thinking of cutting the front off for a half cab and using the back part for a shell on the 4x4. Thoughts?

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

That's what I would do with a extra top. I have wanted a half cab for a long time. Not sure if it would be easier or harder with a double wall or single.
Congrat's on the garage, they are never big enough so make sure you build it so you can add on later. Making it tall enough for a lift later on is not that much more than standard height. I just love spending your money!

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

Come on over, I am here most of the time. Finishing up my Vega wagon for the HotRod Power Tour in June. Still lots to do.

I wanted to make a half cab that you could remove and fit under a cover in the back.

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

I guess I better get this rig going. My wife says the only way I can keep all these classic vehicles is to let her use this as her daily driver. This was going to be my hotrod 383 4 speed Muncie posi sleeper. I guess it may turn out to stay the way it is... I still need to find a dang hood though. I had a few deals but they always fall thru.

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

Well this thing may yet again take another turn. I just picked up a 1999 Trans Am with a 5.7 LS1 and a T56 6 Speed. So that and a 3.73 posi could be a blast. I found a free hood but it will need some work of course. What's a little work?

Sounds like a fun ride!

I am in the middle of putting a warmed over 5.3 in the Blazer. Along with a new wiring Ron Francis harness. I have installed quite a few wiring harnesses but none as nice as this one!

Drop by sometime!

Dave

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

Ron Francis wiring harness I got along with a bunch of other stuff years ago and just now using it.
I am using a FiTech port injected system for the 5.3.
I sold the Jimmy.
58 Belair?

Yeah a 58 Bel Air My mom just up and gave me. 348 2 speed powerglide. Real nice car. Just got a new fuel tank for it as the old one is full of "something". Drove the 1999 Trans Am Donor home last night. 5.7 T56 Six speed. Should be a bunch of fun til I put the drive train in the Blazer.

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

OK. So I have a new job. Goodbye Lowe's! I bought a new house and had to fix up the old one to sell and now the Blazer will have yet another place to go. I am still going to strip the TA for the drive train but I may drive the blazer around a while to get a baseline for the performance upgrade. That and I just want to drive the darn thing. I am trying to sell the dbl wall top and I thought it would go fast but I have only one taker and he is in Miami and taking his sweet time to come get this thing. UGH! I know this thread is called No Daggum Money but I think I have some now. I just don't want to part with it. HAHA!

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

I parted out the Trans Am and sold the body. That means I have paid $700 for the 5.7 and T56 with the harness and other related goodies taken from the TA. Not a bad deal. They have 156,000 miles on them and I drove the car around for a while so no ticking from the engine and decent power. LOVE the 6 spd! I got the ICT motor mounts the other day and have began tinkering with the engine getting it ready to drop in the Blazer. I plan on working the harness myself and tuning this myself as well. Once it is running I plan on a cam and heads. We shall see. Pics on the way.

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

Ok so the 307CI and 4 spd Saginaw finally sold for $660. So that means I have $40 that's right $40 into an LS1 and T56. Super budget! Now for the Nickel and diming! Turns out every part I want is $300 ! Shoot man. The engine is sitting in the truck now and I should have cleaned it better but I had to get it out of the bed of my 4x4 so I could drive it. What's a decent budget header for this Blazer? My F body manifolds don't fit on the passenger side.

The 2010 Camaro exhaust manifolds work fine in my Blazer. What does it hit?
I finished my C50 finally.

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

Well there you are. That is one fine machine. They hit the motor stand on the passenger side. Doesn't matter too much as I sold them already. They were 1999 Trans Am manifolds. I am thinking the headers for that same car might fit and be cheaper than the Speed Engineering headers but I could be wrong. Your trucks are getting very nice. I am jealous!

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

I think I am going to take the low hump out of my 4x4 (after I take the body lift kit off) and swap the high hump back into it and out the low hump in the Blazer. Not sure about the position of the shifter yet. Somewhere I saw a kit to bring it forward a couple inches but I thought I might try it this way for a while. Obviously I am in no big hurry. I am ironing out my first standalone conversion wiring harness and am most likely going to use the stock relay/fuse blocks from the Trans Am. That way I have stock components and positions for replacement and it is all free including relays and fans etc.

Re: 72 2wd project "No Daggum Money"

I ended up going with Speed Engineering long tubes as wifey said I could blow a little dough and reviews said they would fit. I also found a new Sanden SD7 for $100 delivered. I am wondering which bracket to get to install it though. LSX Innovations has a nice looking one piece bracket that I like. Some reviews of the ICT multi piece say they think it flexes under loads.
