Embarking on a restoration...

Hello everyone!
I am new to this whole message board thing but the information I have seen since joining yesterday is awesome.

Last year I acquired a '72 GMC C20 "2500 Super Custom" Custom Camper from my Grandfather. He was the original owner and the truck is in beautiful original condition (except the new 454...beautiful but not original).

It even came with a fully restored '71 Teardrop camper!

Anyway, I have started some minor restoration to recover from 31 years of use and I have two questions:

1. Has anyone had an issue with the brake pedal squeaking?
It seems that a grommet or something is rotted out on the firewall.

2. Since the 454 was put in, the front rides very low compared to the rear. The truck originally had a 350. Would HD springs fix this? What brand do you all suggest?

I love seeing the pics of all the trucks and I will post some of mine soon.
