Which manifold?

What kind of manifold would be a good one for a 350 with a quadra jet 600 cfm? Not looking for a hot rod here just a decent one.

I went with the performer by edelbrock seem's to work very nice...

My motor did not have the oil tube so I did not put one back on..

Where did you get a 600 cfm quadrajet? The only two varieties that I am aware of are 750 and 850 cfm.

if you have an oil tube, upgrade your valve covers so one has a hole for a breather/ oil filler

Yep you are right. I meant to say 4 barrel but quadrajet came out. Heres my carb minus the shiny.

If your engein is pretty much stock, then just go with any intake advertised for idle to 5500 RPM. I noticed considerable gains on a stock well worn 300,000 mile old 350 when i installed the performer, but I hear it is an outdated design. maybe a Wienand is in order?
most of the intakes in that class are right at about 100 bucks mail order.

Ok is there anything in the oil filler that I will need for the valve cover? Besides a oil cap?

Thanks Longhorn Man. BTW beside disconnecting the top radiator hose,carb, and distributor what else needs to come off? Or could I leave the carb on?

What's Weiand got that beats the Edelbrock Performer for a relatively mild engine? Those freakin' Performers are really, really popular. Heck, I've used a couple of Performer RPM on mild 350 engines with pretty decent results. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be digging into the top end of my 68's engine and it'd be as good time as any to upgrade from the stock iron.

well if you get a valve cover with an oil cap you also have to make sure you have a way to make the crankcase breathe or else you are looking to blow out seals and what not, just make sure you get an oil cap that also functions as a breather or have a valve cover with an oil cap, and the other valve cover with a breather

I just pulled that brand out of my tail pipe. I have never run anything but stock or edelbrock.
Like I said...I have used the performer and had noticiable increase in power...however, i have been told it is an out dated design.



Ford sold Escorts by the millions in the 80's...best selling car in teh WORLD for like 8 years...that doesn't make it a GOOD car, we all know it was a POOR DESIGN....it sold becouse it was CHEAP.


Again...I support the performer.
The Performer RPM is a whole nother ball game. And it IS a kick ass intake, but I would not recomend it for a stock or near stock engine.

Weiand got nothing on Edelbrock. I bought one of their Stealth manifolds for SBC a few years ago because Summit had them for 94 bucks. Fit like ass. It was too high near the valve covers and wouldn't let my aluminum covers bolt down without hitting. I sold it and put an Edelbrock on it.

I have tons of Edelbrock stuff hanging all over my garage wall. Never had one single complaint about Edelbrock stuff.

Get a Performer pn 2101 and be happy.

I should clarify, I have tons of Edelbrock stuff on the wall because I collect old Edelbrock goodies off of forum boards and Ebay.

The only major difference I can see in the manifold is that on the 2101 there is a divider in the hold. On my there is no divider.

If it has the normal valve covers with 4 bolts around the edge, it will fit.

It it has the 4 valve cover bolts in the center of the covers, it won't.

It sounds like you probably have a generic old Goodwrench engine, which uses the normal intake.

Heres a pic of the valve covers. Looks like it wont fit from what you have said in the other post. According to this the motor is a 90 and up

You're good to go on the part number 2101. Those are the normal old style heads you have there.

The new style heads have the 4 valve cover bolts on top of the valve cover where yours say "Chevrolet"
