junk yard score with lots of pics....

well, I only got one thing... a bench seat. perfect shape. no tears. and somehow, I managed to put a tear in it trying to get it out... still not sure how it happened, but I will repair it.

anybody know if this is an original color? newspapers in the cab were dated 1983. was put there because of a bad engine....

came out of this GMC.

oh, and $20.00 was the cost.

the C40 he won't sell any parts off of, because it's still a running truck.... so I'm assuming he'd sell it whole.....

Snake haven! HUH! I would be more scared of bees and wasps oh and spiders.(black widows, and brown recluse's) I usually make alot of noise when I go into a junk yard like that. and am very careful where I put my hands. Usually snakes will run if you make alot of noise first. Bees and wasps are viscous.

It's up in the sticks of NE Iowa, and yes, I know the owner and his son, so I was able to walk around, but it's normally not allowed.

That seat looks to me like a mid to late 70's recover. I have never seen a stock cover without pleats, designs etc

Re: junk yard score with lots of pics....

lol no doubt about snakes and all...... I found out a girl in my small town has a 67 camaro in the garage. Well needless to say i tried to buy it. But she wont sell it. I was scared to death, her boyfriend comes walking in the garage with this huge ass snake wrapped around his arm. He said hey dude come here, let me show you this snake i found in the camaro last week. I uh said no thanks...thinking to myself i was just SITTING in that car 2 seconds ago. Long story shorter lol He was messing with me he found it in the basement dead. My heart didnt stop pounding for the rest of the nite. The poor camaro is rotting away literally. With no sale in the future .

There is no chance in hell of seeing a junkyard like that here in miami!!!

Wish could just walk around it and see the trucks in person...

Re: junk yard score with lots of pics....

Definitely some cool stuff. Looks like there's still some good parts to be had. You say people can't normally walk around there... so it's their private collection? Why would they let stuff go to waste like that?

Anyway, I would be more scared of the spiders (that pic above gave me the heebie jeebies!) and the bees/wasps (I'm allergic.) Snakes might scare me more if I was in rattler country. Ticks suck too. Do u guys have chiggers up there? Those don't hurt but are EXTREMELY annoying and itchy!

Re: junk yard score with lots of pics....

many yards have closed open access due liability (thank the idiots that sue McDonalds cause the coffee burned em). no yards around here allow you to walk the lot anymore. The one that did is closed all together.

oh, and you guys are ninnies

Re: junk yard score with lots of pics....

yeah, we got chiggers too! the Pull-a-part type yards will let you walk around. we finally have one in Des Moines. $1.00 to get into the yard, but they have no idea what's out there, so you have to walk all the rows.

This yard is a working "yard" still though I think they probably do more service work than anything. generally not a lot of new stuff in lately....

at this same yard, my dad and I saw a 68 or so mustang fastback, that looked okay from the "top" but when we cleared away the weeds to get next to it, it had been put onto a 1/2 ton 4x4 frame many years earlier, and was pretty much all rotted away....

I saw lots of "movement" in the weeds from critters, but nothing that alarmed me. the 5' tall stinging nettles were the most fun... just had to stomp them all down before getting to the trucks to look inside or open a door...

the stinging goes away eventually anyway. and I didn't see poison viy or oak this time....

Nice picks. I didn't find any 67-72 trucks at my local junk yard last weekend.
