frame id

is ther any way to tell what year a frame is? i know there are numbers on drivers side front, what do these numbers mean? thanks guys

The last half of the truck's VIN should be stamped on the top of the drivers side rail, in between the cab mounts. They usually (at least all the ones I have) consist of the year digit, the the assembly plant, then the production number. The 72 frame I used for my 68 is stamped 2S140154 (or 2S110151, I can't remember, and I can't tell from the pic), of which the 2 confirms it's a 72 built at the St. Louis plant.
