Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
I am currently redoing my backhalf and I need some frame width measurements from the very end of frame and somewhere behind the trailing arm crossmember. Want to make sure I get the frame back to specs before I redo my bridge for my air ride. Please let me know also if you are measuring inner to inner or outer to outer. Thanks!!!!!

Re: Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
Anyone have prints for the 63-66 GMC frames both long and short wheel base?
I have both chevy and GMC frames and they are very different.

Re: Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
Not looking to make or have arguments here.
GMC never had trailing arms 63-66 US built models. I can not comment on what you have or don't have. GMC is a different truck than Chevy, never came with a V8 60-66, only a V6, and a Chevy L6 was a special ordered option and the frames are notably different. So different that the Chevy prints not showing spring hangers and cross bracing makes a difference when making a repair or fabbing something up. What I am doing here and the reason I posted to this thread is to simply find someone with 63-66 GMC blueprints as the Chevy prints shown in this thread do not show the difference or have the dimensions that could and probably would help me in my builds. However, the Chevy 4X4 prints for the back half probably are the same as GMC and if someone had those prints it could really help in what I am doing. Check the GMC V6 site online about what is and isn't factory on GMC trucks. They have lots of information on US built GMC models and more.

Re: Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
Hey Kieth,
Just took a look at your 66 build at http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...67555326_3TbEg And I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that you have a 60-62 frame under that bad boy. The cross rail spacing for the bed will tell it all. 60-62 is wider than the 63-66. Again, not throwing rocks, just checking things out.

Re: Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
My 1966 canadian model lwb stepside has trailing arms and coils, but i always thought the chev and (canadian gmc) trailing arm frames were the same.

Re: Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
You know, I have no idea exactly what Canada built but if I was guessing, and I am, the truck in Kieth's build has an early frame. If it is the X style, as I call it, it would indeed be the early frame. Or it may be a Canadian built truck.
However, US sales literature and many other forms of documentation says 63-66 GMC were shipped out the door with leafs only. I would still like to see a print of the rear section of a 4X4 frame (Chevy) and compare it to my GMC's. I am convinced there are no GMC blueprints available but hope I am wrong.

Re: Help!!!! Need 64 swb stepside frame width?
Yes i agree with you there the older x frames were a different width. If anyone would have the prints of a 4X4 frame (Chevy) and a gmc it would be aerotruk63.
