85 with a 305. Ground and wiring ?'s

85 short bed 4x4 with 305. I know this is odd on here but this is a stock truck with 87000 miles. I am having random electrical issues

1. Back up lights flash 1 time when you shift into reverse and thats it.

2. Truck warms up in the driveway and runs fine. Hit a bump and it acts and sounds like it is missing. Hit another bump and your good to go again.

3. Radio goes in and out or on and off randomly. Always cuts to static when the missing starts.

This is my winter beater and does have a plow on the front. All electrical for the plow is direct from battery and grounded separately. With plow disconnected from battery I still have the same problem.

I am trying to trace out the ground but I'm not sure where to start.

Distributor to block and then block to frame?????

If so does anyone have pictures of what I'm looking for?

What I thought was the ground from the distributor is running back through the firewall and disappears. I think there should be a strap from the distributor to the block but I haven't found it yet.

Any suggestions on how to fix or where to start would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 85 with a 305. Ground and wiring ?'s

1.check the N safety switch on top of the coloum
almost to the firewall(my 79 purple/yellow)

2.Electric chocke connection ok?hows your vac advance? timing?check ground pass side head to body

3. check the radio plug, seen the copper strips crack or flatten out,get loose, need a little bend for tension

behind the cluster i've seen where the grounds go down to one wire in my 78
worth a peek...

Re: 85 with a 305. Ground and wiring ?'s

Thanks guys. I'll dive into it this week and let you know what I find. Kids both got sick for the weekend so I never made it out to the garage. I appreciate the feedback.
