New to vintage 4x4 trucks
We needed a truck, always wanted a vintage 4x4, love classics, wanted an appreciating asset (not a depreciating one), no current restoration projects all equals our new ....... 1961 Chevy 4x4.
I'm going to need some real insight from the old pros who knows which nut and bolt should be what color and all that junk because over time we plan to restore this old truck to like new condition. We're still pulling together the truck's history, but it's a Nor-Cal truck (1/2 ton, Cab and chassis, 4x4 K10, 4speed granny 1st with PTO, 16.5 wheels & 17.5 spare?, short bed, step side)- built in Oakland, sold to the Foresthill Forestry dept (between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento), sold to a local private party and now to us. It appears to be all original, never wrecked (or waxed), and all complete. Phase one - get it on the road safely (as I mentioned - we need a truck) with shocks, brakes, tires, fuel and brake lines, etc... (If anyone can help me with 17.5 x 5.25 wheels and hub caps I would be very grateful as I need to buy tires asap and don't want to use the 16.5s that are on it, but the 17.5 it has as a spare). Thank you all, as I have already learned a great deal just reading many of your posts and looking at your pics. Be well - Jim Last edited by 61 Forestry 4x4; 04-25-2011 at 06:31 PM. |

Re: New to vintage 4x4 trucks
Thank you. I plan to create build thread. I bought the truck last week, and started to work on it this evening for the first time. The project is underway.
