Re: painting and detailing the bottom of our trucks
How far you planning on going with it? I have found that Eastwood makes a lot of great paints to simulate factory finish. I try to pull the part if possible and bead blast, sand blast, or sand it to fresh metal. I follow that with a proper sealer or primer and then top coat it.

That looks awesome but i dont think im going as far as taking the truck apart again just something i can do in a day, or a couple days at a time. Maybe some tips on how i can clean this stuff maybe strip it a bit before applying undercoating/paint.

Re: painting and detailing the bottom of our trucks
I start by taking it to the coin car wash. I use Gunk brand "Engine-Brite" cleaner. I have been told that the cheap oven cleaner from the Dollar General works good too.
Once it's blasted as clean as possible, I Jack it up and secure it properly. Pull a wheel and start cleaning with solvent. Once I have it as clean as possible, I take a parts off or mask them off and paint. I use various forms of masking such as paper, cardboard, or aluminum foil to keep over spray down.
