actually Blue beard it is and has been a problem for a few years. The software company has had many complaints about it. long story short, and in non geek wording, when the search index gets to a certain point it goes fubar. It causes major issues, the search database or index ( if i use the wrong term excuse me i don't speak geek fluently ) can be rebuilt. This is seriously time consuming, and doesnt even fix the problem. The search database basicly causes the board to crash.
It was taken off once for this, and brought back on a limited scale because everyone asked for it back. Lately the board has been having server error messages, and it all seems to tie into the search feature. |

Thanks for the info MHC....
Too bad this had to happen....was the old software having the same issues? Hopefully they will find a cure, takes longer to see what's happening on the board doing everything manually.

its really all part of his evil plan to keep you on the boards all day!!!
but really yes it has always been a problem, but with the amount of active members that post, it has to be a major strain to search them. |
