Help; Headers for 4X4 with clutch linkage
I want to install headers on my 1969 4 wheel drive manual transmission truck. The clutch linkage goes from the frame to a ball mounted on the engine block just below the dip stick. I think the truck came with rams horn exhaust manifolds so they exit below the center two exhaust ports. I need headers that will allow me to run the Z-bar across from the frame to the engine. Any info or part numbers would be helpful. Pictures would be cool too. Thanks

Is it a big block or small block? I personally haven't tried these but was told for a Big block these will fit. They are hooker headers part # hok-2463hkr.
You can pm Nick's683/4 he is running these headers and can probably give you more info or pictures.

I beleive the tri-y's are the only model specific brand for manual 4wds of this era. Other brands require modification to the linkeage. I went with the 2.5" centerdump ramhorn(vide the stock 2") that came on the 63/64 vettes w/ a 327.

Im runnin Hooker SUper comps built fer a 69 chevelle on my truck. I had to heat em an bend em just a lil to make them fit the body lines, but other than that they clear all my linkage just fine.

I had headers on a '72 4x4, but I don't know what kind they were. They were already on the truck when I bought it. They had used a hammer to make them fit. Just like the muffler commercial on tv. "We can make it fit". Don't try this at home.

I have Hedmann Elites on my '70 K-20 with a stick. I order the headers for a manual transmission and I still had to dent them to clear the Z-bar. They are very nice headers though.

Yeah like Jeremy said i got a 454 with headers and a 4 speed. I had to cut the end of the linkeage off. The part to make it move more??? and i had to put a small starter on it. The stock one was to close and wouldn't move after the truck got hot.
