I see the thread where we are talking about AC on L6's. What I would like to know is how much it slows down these motors? Anyone have insight who had one from the factory this way or added on what did it do for power?

Well, look at it this way... there's not much power to be taken away in the first place

Not our years, but I had an 82 C10 with 250/ Turbo350, A/C, pwr ster/pwr brakes. You noticed the difference off the line some, but the 6 is a torger, so it has the grunt to handle it. You might notice it some at top end, but the 82 would cruise easily at 75 with the AC and not miss a lick. It still had more to go to, just ask my daughter and the cop that pulled her over.

You won't be winning any drag races, but it'll do just fine with AC.

No more taken than power steering,probably less.It doesn`t take that much to run a/c.And,these inlines have torque.I wouldn`t hesitate to run a/c with a 250.You didn`t see many that way because of demographics(?),a new word since that time.Back then,not many people wanted a 6 to save gas.They wanted it to not spend more on options.You figure there`s 4cyls all over the place with a/c these days,even 3 cyls.Even if it did hog power,it`s just a flick of a switch when you need full-power.

My old Subaru REALLY bogs down when I turn on the AC but even a 230 isn't near the dog an old Subaru is. No question, you'll be able to tell the difference but I'm sure it will be acceptable.
