Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

Was there a problem with the metal suburban/blazer tanks fitting some leaf spring applications? Filler neck coming out in the wrong location or running into shackles or body mounts???
This question came up on a 4wd being converted to a 2wd.
Any experience with this problem???

Re: Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

Believe the Burb tank does have a alignment issue with a floor support. Even the Blazer tank with it's offset filler can be real close in the stock location. The blazer and Suburban tanks are the same size but with different filler tubes. It might be different on the burbs due to their using wood floors verses the typical steel floor on the blazers. The Blazer tank also requires a spacer between it and the frame which drops it down about an inch. If you need a picture, let me know.

Re: Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

I had to add 1/2" to each side of my lower frame plate to "catch" my poly tank (4WD, K-10 SWB). I bought it from another vendor though..

Re: Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

Frank, look up at the Blazer/Jimmy boards, seems like there was alot of info on this topic of late. I think it was Herb101 and Yukon Jack, but there may be more.

Seems like the fix was adding a metal tubing splice rite at the neck of the tank, seemed to clear the body mount

Re: Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

Thanks for the good answers...The problems were well discussed on those threads.
I have installed the plastic tank with a longer fuel hose, but had not done the metal tank. Several customers have figured it out, but this is the first guy that didn't, so I want to give him some options & ideas.
Thanks again...

Re: Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

Has anyone used one of theses tanks for a fuel injected application? If so, did you go with a fuel pump in the tank?

Re: Repro Blazer Tank Fit Problem???

Fuel injection typically requires much higher pressure --not pulling the fuel but PUSHING the fuel from the tank. Some vehicles actually have two pumps for adequate pressure so my vote would be for in tank pusher pump.
