69/70 hood emblem ?

Did ALL 69-70 chevy trucks have the bowtie? Mine doesn't have it, so I'm curious if I have a 71-72 hood. Anyone ever have to add the emblem? If so, how involved is it to get it in the "correct" position? Would really hate to drill the holes to find out it was crooked.

Re: 69/70 hood emblem ?

probably a stupid question, but did you look on the inside of the hood to see if there are any signs that the PO removed the emblem, and filled the holes?

just curious.

Not a stupid question, but no I haven't done this. Guess I should. Thanks for the heads up, brak.

Re: 69/70 hood emblem ?

Make sure when/if replacing the emblem you get one for a 69-70. the 71-72 looks the same, but has a different arch. I know this because I bought one at a swap meet for my '70, only to end up making it a decoration for my shed because it was a 71-72. Mine was filled in by the PO, btw.

I'll have to take the hood latch support/bolt off, right?

PO did that to mine, too, but I resigned myself to leaving it that way. I can't see it when I'm driving it anyways.

This is so true, dan42. It would just be nice knowing I had a bright, shining blue bowtie leading the way. Will probably just have to leave it as is, I'm sure.
