Do I have a posi?
I am taking my drums off the back and I spun the axle and both axles turned. Does this mean 100% for sure that I have a posi?
Thanks! Jason

No but what better excuse to change that differential oil than to check and see if you have a posi-trac...If you see a bunch of springs and clutches in there you got one! If you just see gears you aint got one..

No. It may mean that the turning resistance for the rear driveshaft is less than that for the far axle shaft. But it's likely you do.
Put one rear wheel on the ground, and the transmission (or transfer case, if you have one) in neutral. Then turn the off-the-ground wheel by hand. If you can't, you have a functioning Posi. If you can, you have either an open diff or a worn out Posi. You can't tell an open diff from a worn out Posi without removing the diff cover and inspecting the diff. Note that if you have a 4x4, you have to either put the transfer case in neutral or raise the FRONT wheels, too. |

not 100% for sure
if you spin them and they both go the same direction then you very well could have a posi but if you spin them and they turn opposite ways you either have an open rear, or a worn out posi hope this helps... I heard the only sure way to know is to pull the cover Ean
