I just installed new lights and harness from Classic Industries. Install went smooth and I think it looks great. Check out the pics , They are on low beam.

Got any shots in the daylight with them off? I'd like to know how close to original they look.

Reminds me of the lights on the new Chevy/GMC trucks and SUV's. Every one I've seen blinds me like crazy.

I agree. The only ones I've seen that I can deal with are the factory with the self levelling / auto adjusting.


Smills, I'm not trying to bag on you. I think they are a wonderful thing. Any advancement in technology and improvement to our trucks is great. But most of the after market systems I've seen are worse than the poorest aligned halogens for blinding the crap out of oncoming drivers.

I think they are pretty cool. Especially so with single lights. It's fairly easy to get them adjusted correctly. Other driver's will tell you when they aren't.

I wouldn't take anything for the 4 halogen setup on my 87 though. I have the low beams set as normal. Good lights. When the extra high beams kick in, it's like I am in an aircraft with landing lights on. I can see everything for a long way. People absolutely dim their lights for me.

My question is are these TRUE HID headlights? Or are they just high wattage halogens? on a true HID set up, a single bulb goes for around $200.00 each plus there is an igniter and a controller needed for each side as well that run about $65.00-$100.00 for the former and as high as $350.00 for the latter.

They look like just high watt halogens to me, and not a true HID setup. I could be wrong.

Yeah, they are not the expensive ones, In the first post I said they were from Classic Industries. I am unaware if they sell the expensive ones. Not trying to pass them off as something they are not.

Nah, thats a good thing. A true HID driver requires a proper auto leveling projector lense that is cut for a HID driver arc. Your lights are bright, but should have a reasonably good cut-off to protect other driver's eyes at night.

I personally run a Hella H4 conversion lense with a set of 185 / 125 watt PIAA drivers upgraded wiring and relays. The Hella lenses are the european light pattern, and have that sharp cut-off for on-coming traffic. I've spent a great deal of time aiming my lights in such a way that I get the best low-beam performance without blinding the crap out of smaller cars. If I ever tow anything, I have to aim my lights further down or I get highbeamed all night, which gives me a wicked headache, lol

And yes, lights that bright are essential for me. During the darkest time of the year the sun does not come up until 8:30 AM, and sets by 4:40 PM, which means that almost all of my commute time is done in the dark on lonely back-roads where hitting an animal is very likely.

DANG!!! And I thought mine wre strong with the 100/130 watts!!!!!
Do your bulbs have the blueish tint to them or are they totally clear? Mine are clear with out the blueish tint.

Hehe, I got y'all beat, my topless Lincoln got upgraded to 4x55/65 Silverstars and 2x100W fog lights, and yes on high beams all that comes on - fogs and lows and highs together, 680W of total light power, at night I can see literally two counties away, and best of all it looks pretty much stock. I run a 6-relay harness and a 130A alternator for it, and I had to put those eyebrows/shades thingies around the headlights to make sure I ain't blinding oncoming traffic, and that's after aiming it all as best as I can without special equipment. Of course that setup is by no means legal, but considering I only run it at full power in situations such as those described by Russell (dark country road, noone else within a 5-mile radius) tis all good. Sucky part is I can't quite do that to the truck, as it only has two headlights... Altho if I do my dual-beam mod to a pair of lights like Ble'Burban gots I'll end up with 460W total, which I think is pretty darn respectable... Ble'Burban, what headlamps are you using?

Hella lenses with a parabolic reflector inside and the bulbs are from sylvania.

My bulbs do have the blueish tint to them. Don't really notice the color any unless the lights are off, then my headlights look blue
