Re: What did you get done? 04/13
Got my 6.0/4l80e on Friday...had a few things damaged in shipping, nothing major.
Spent some of Saturday taking some things off, getting ready to take the old 305/th350 out of the 86 to drop it in, think that might happen this next weekend... Took my 2 little ones fishing. Me and my son Chance: Me and my youngest daughter Kaitlyn and Paw-Paw Then did some yard work and housecleaning.

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
Got my LFD bed/cab lifter welded up today. This is a sweet tool designed by Rokcrln. I'll post some pics when I get to put it to use. Check here to see his original thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...06#post1941906 It's worth the minimal cash for all of Kevin's design work!

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
Today, I got the doors, seat and most of the front end removed. Will be ready to remove the engine, transmission and bed some time this week when I get a couple folks to help out.

i put in some time on the blazer today. I got my narrower (68) rear cleaned up and the new 5 lug axles, bearings, and seals installed. I also intstalled my ECE extreme drop trailing arm crossmember along with the narrower rearend. much better clearance for the 22s now.

Had time to start laying FatMat in my other 79 before it heads to the interior shop in two weeks. Got the driver's side done today and it'll likely be next weekend before I can finish the passenger side.

Sat. hit the neighborhood yard sale, which I VERY rarely do.Pick-up an older Raleigh beach cruiser bicycle for a couple bucks.I'm thinking black paint, white walls, red rims, ape hanger handle bars.Wife and I Sunday in St. Augustine at the Honda store(don't tell anyone I went to a honda store)they were have open road test drives on the new Can-am Spyder's.Its a neat riding bike/trike.Would be fun to add to the stable.Lastly service family truckster(dodge minivan)LOF,rotation.Won a couple of tidbits on the E-Bay for the truck. link to bike site http://spyder.brp.com/

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
Busy!
Dropped spindles and cut one coil in the front. Home made flip kit for the rear, used new axle pads. Also added a 1" lowering block to the rear. Had to shorten the driveshaft, the rear didn't want to line up. I could have re-drilled the pads but I wanted the wheels to stay where they are in the wheel well. It took less time to cut the shaft and re-install it than it did to change the spindles. Sunday I installed replacement (that means old without rust) doors and a LF fender. The doors and fender were stripped and shot with 3 coats of epoxy last weekend.

i managed to throw the tranny back in the slug all by myself. after me and the kiddos hit the local car show. man there were some trucks there that had no right to be there. kids needed a snack so i bought them each a can drink and a bag og chips, ended up being 9 bucks for some snacks for 2 kids. overall i wasn't impressed with the car show

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
I reinstalled my bumper on the 74 & drove it around this weekend. Sure is a nicer/more-relaxed ride when you don't have to worry about the rear-end hitting the frame.
Sat I went to the Stoked Out Specialties shop to see updates on the latest projects nearing completion. One of N2Billets new projects is getting a sbc w/an interesting choice of color. Sat night I went out to Kellers for some grub & suds. Hung out w/a couple of board members & checked out their rides & told another guy that had just purchased a 71 GMC short-fleet about the site. Sun morning I got up early & drove out to the swap meet in Ft.Worth. I got up early so I could be home by noon & get some stuff done around the house. Instead, I was dragging & couldn't get motivated to do much. Tonight I'll get started on a hidden hitch for the 74.

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
I actually have something to add this week! Its been a while since I could do anything with the ol 76. I found that three inches of snow on the truck provides just the right amount of water for wet sanding, provided its at least 40F outside so it melts. A bit warmer and it melts too fast and you run out of water.
So I wet sanded and buffed the hood and front fenders, they needed it with all the orange peel from my crappy painting skills. Looks better but still needs another go with the sandpaper and a buff, deep orange peel ftl... Figured why bother with the doors, and box sides, since they will be replaced sometime when funds allow. Why not paint the truck twice? More practice this way!! Maybe I can do it three times! |

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
Installed an edelbrock carb...still have some work to do, i need to hook up the kickdown cable. Grabbed some bumper bolts from the junk yard pooped them in the front bumper, now it doesn't hang to the left.

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
On the '73, put in new spark plugs, installed the front bumper, changed out the lock on the ignition switch, painted and put in a new battery tray, and throttle bracket, cable and spring...almost ready to fire her up!

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
I sent back the second roll pan from Sir Michael's at the end of last week. It was not the special design that he made for me. The shipping/rec guy made a mistake. The 3rd one should be here on Tuesday! I hope that it is right or I might come unglued. They have been very easy to work with even with all the problems. Since I am at a stand still with the rear sheet metal project I started some other projects that I have had on the back burner.
I replaced the thermostat with a 180 and the temperature sending unit that turns on one of the cooling fans on at 185 and off at 170. The other fan turns off with the A/C. That all works great now! I decided that I would replace the cab mounts finally. I had bought the entire kit when I put on the front clip, but never did the cab bushings. What a pain in the butt!! The bolts are a royal pain in the butt to break loose. The front ones eventually broke loose with a 3 foot extension. I didn't get so lucky with the back ones. They ended up spinning the captive nutts on the back side. I ended up cutting holes on the inside of the cab so that I could weld the nutts to the cab. Pain in the butt but it worked. I then sand blasted and painted the cups and bolts. I will putt it all back together this week as time permits. I went to some junk yards again on Saturday. Found some goodies that were un-molested and in better shape that what I have already.

I went way too far with my S-10, the C-10 will be a clean daily driver. I'm thinking Hugger Orange with a simple tan or gray interior, vinyl. When the 4.1 six goes south a STOCK V-8 and 700R4 will go in. For now, I need a tailgate, RF fender, cab corners and a tilt column. The tilt will make it easier for me to slide my butt into the seat. LOL.

Re: What did you get done? 04/13
I fired up the Craigslist 350 I've been putting in my '76 K10, once I had the timing sitting on 8° and the idle at 600 she was pulling 16" of vacuum and holding 15 LB of oil pressure, so I think it'll last me a while
Then I replaced the ate-up tail light sockets, some PO had painted the reflectors when they swapped on the box, so I lined them with Aluminum Foil and now the lights not only work but you can *see* them too Tomorrow I talk to the DMV and insurance people, it's time for some 'roadwork' and final-shakedown before I put her to work |

I got the 700R4 transmission all hooked up; Torque converter, trans lines and such. Gotta fix a screw up on the hole I drilled though.
