2 1/2 ton wheels?
The old military 2 1/2 ton trucks had big 6-lug axles. Who makes wheels for them?

Custom wheel shops.I believe that pattern is available from Stockton Wheel. They offer the old Power Wagon pattern.I had mine made for my mud bogger.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
Cool! I'll probably custom order some 25" black chrome when I get a deuce and a half.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
I`m trying to grasp what you want to end up with.I`m thinking way beefy axles to really hold up to putting a truck to the test off road, right? Then wheels with a finish that you won`t want to scratch up?

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
look into buying a 5 ton truck instead of 2.5.
all that weight,if you are gonna be putting big wheels/tires, you will be snapping 2.5 axles.unless you speng BIG$$$ and get aftermarket shafts.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
All that weight? Have you seen what people do with these things? And it is extremely hard to snap 2.5's.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
yeah, all that weight.............those duces are huge.stock you should be ok,but go adding bigger wheels and tires offroad you will break parts.
ive seen what people are doing with these,im building a k5 with rocks right now. have personally seen 400horses and 50" tires breaking stock frt and rear axles in what i would call a "mild" situation. im putting the aftermarket ones in mine,i know ill break em!. its not that hard to break em

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
oh yeah,my next truck(1971 crew cab!!)
will be on 5 tons,i can put 2 steering 5 tons together for much less than having to build up a set of 2.5's and they are not breaking.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
Well, I only plan on going through light mud nothing to serious. Not enough to break it, I am not a hardcore off-roader.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
I have seen a 2.5 ton shop truck (loaded in the back with cabinets full of tools/parts do a wheelie. Yes a wheelie.. granted only about 18" off the ground but that is still alot of weight to come slamming back down to mother earth. Never broke an axle and we abused that thing. For recreational use you will be fine and you might check out www.steelsoldiers.com All military trucks..

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
I wheelie would break a housing before breaking a drive axle since they are full-floating.They are tough, but 5t axles are a hella lot tougher. The monster truck guys figured that out early in the game.Alot depends on tire size, weight, and use.

Re: 2 1/2 ton wheels?
\What would max tire/wheels size be? I will probably do 25" with 4-6" of sidewall (big rig tires).
