That pic was on here a few weeks back. Very cool. Are you sure that's Mt. Shasta? No one seemed to know the last time.

Wow... what a great pic! You don't see that any more... heck you don't even see cars on trains anymore. Everyone kept breaking out the windows...

Re: Cool vintage pic.

Say there's 20 car-loads there: How many 2008 (collector) dollars on that train?

Re: Cool vintage pic.

I can hazard a guess for 64 0r 6, I don't think 65, because on what few cowl panels you can see there is no emblem.
the blue one on the bottom rear, and the blue step both look to have emblems on the fenders, but I can not zoom in enough to see.
the one that is the most clear is the red on the bottom, but I am thinking that might be a gmc, because there is not an emblem anywhere on it where a chev emblem should be. also the tan and white in front of the red has the gmc style 2 tone, I don't think chevs were painted that way.

Re: Cool vintage pic.

It is a load of 1965 Chevy and GMC's that left the Fremont CA assembly plant ( code Z ) headed for the Pacific Northwest. GMC's have no side emblems and the wheels were painted white, also note the unique GMC only tu-tone paint on the bottom fleetside. Also, the clue for 65 is the one year only rare Maroon color on the suburban.
