Headlight/alt. Wiring harness question
I am installing the original h/l wiring harnessfrom the 68 gmc. this h/l wiring harness does not have wires for the side marker ( the 68 just had a blank) can I splice into my front park/signal wires or should I try to get a harness that already has them(69-72) I think?
My other question, I installed a new alternater ACDelco p/n 19151858 with a built in voltage regulater that just needs a hot wire to ignite it, how do I wire it? the hot wire to the old alt.? & do I use any of the wires from the old voltage regulater? any help is appreciated. |

Re: Headlight/alt. Wiring harness question
That is a good looking truck. Your harness has seen better days & would recommend a new harness from M&H to complement your nice looking truck. There are a few venders on here that sell them too.
You'll be able to update your harness to include the internal alternator, electric choke (if you want) side markers like you mentioned plus you can get the headlight relay too. s/t

Thanks, sport/truck for the compliment & info. I'll jump to the parts board for further assistance.

Re: Headlight/alt. Wiring harness question
Hey dad, what brackets are you using for your alt? All of the articles I've seen say that the upper bracket requires modification. BTW- here's and article with all you need to know about internal alt's--LINK

Re: Headlight/alt. Wiring harness question
You only have to modify the upper bracket if you are using the higher output 'cs130' alt. I'm not sure if thats what he has, guess I just went off half-cocked.
