Starter wires?

A buddy of mine just got a 80 Cheyenne, with a 85 motor in from a truck similar to his, with everything all over the place in the engine bay,who ever was working on it left it a mess.It was sitting for about a year before he got it,and now I'm trying to help him get it running. And my skills are as such ,if I see how and where things go than I can usually fix them.lol So my question is where do the two little wires go on the starter.Do they both go on the S or does one go on the S and the other one,one the N or P (can't remember what the other letter was)Or to make it simple, following the wire from the distributor which one does it go to....Thanks in advance guys,I really do appreciate.

From my understanding you have the large heavy wire from the battery and then two small wires of which 1 runs to the distribution block on the firewall and the other to the alternator

Re: Starter wires?

Goose: Battery B+ wire to big lug on starter. Red wires with large terminal ends go with battery B+ wire. Purple wire with small terminal end goes on the "S" terminal, which is the closest one to the block. If there is another terminal on the solinoid don't worry about it unless you have a point type ign system. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.
