HELP! New door latches in 49 truck
I'm working on Project "49 No Buck$" and installed some new (repop) latches. For some reason I can't seem to make them work. If they finally do actually click into place, I have to reach in from the inside and pry down on the serrated arm to open the door. There isn't a lot of adjustment in the whole system, so maybe I'm looking at these all wrong. Anybody know what's up with these things or do I need to fabricate my own latches?

Re: HELP! New door latches in 49 truck
I'd say the later. I personally had my doors pop open from time to time while I was driving my '54 stock. Everyone I have talked to said the stock latches are antiquaited(old) and shold be updated with a newer double clasp style like the newer cars have. I chose a kit from bear claw. Let us know what you do. Your pick up looks nice! I wish I was driving mine. Twice over my budget and no paint, wheels, interior or glass. I think I did somthing wrong. You've definitely done something right. Keep up the good work.

If you want to update the latches, look at this thread.
