Gage Needles

What is the proper way to remove the speedometer and gas gage needles?

The needles are riveted/fixed in place, I would not try removing them. Are you considering re-painting them? Just cut slit in a piece of paper, and slide it over the gauge, leaving only the needle exposed. Spray and go.

theres a link on here somewhere showing how to rebuild the speedo and reset the odometer, which included how to take off the needle, but like these guys said, it aint too easy and not recommended

Yep, they're faded really bad and so I was wanting to paint them. I'll just leave them on and paint them.

I'd really like to see that thread on redoing the cluster if anyone can find it.
In the mean time I'll be looking.

I was thinking of using the flouresant orange hi-temp header paint since I have some in the closet. Y'all see any problem with that?
