Here is a thread over on the 67-72 section where they are talking about the same wheel. Hope this helps.

Re: Will boss wheels fit on my 87?
The existing ones will NOT fit on the front without a LOT of work. There are in the process of retooling the 338's to work, not just on the 5x5 crowd, but just about any vehicle that has a bearing style front rotor isn't fitting either. They are saying 3-4 weeks, so I would anticipate 4-6 just to be safe.
I got this directly from the Southeastern regional manager himself...face to face this morning. So I believe him. Hope this helps! Cheers, Ed |

Re: Will boss wheels fit on my 87?
Here are a couple of shots of the 18x9.5's that I will be using on the rear of my '87 once I receive my 18x8's for the front. Remember it will be dropped 4/5" so that gap will be gone.
Pardon the lugnuts, I forgot that the '96 rearend that I put under her had 14mm studs, so I only used 2 just so I could see it on the truck. The tire is a 295/45r18 Toyo Proxes ST II which is 28.5" tall. The tire I will be using in the 8" is a 255/50r18 ST II which is exactly 28" tall. Last edited by nlped; 07-22-2009 at 03:56 PM. Re: Will boss wheels fit on my 87?
One thing I would make sure of when you order is that they are the new ones, not the original ones. Most tire shops are legit, but some don't know the difference.
I'm pretty psyched, because those were the wheels I was looking for originally! |

Re: will BOSS wheels fit my 87?
A lot. They're supposedly re-tooling so that they can manufacture the 338 to fit. I'd just wait on them.

Re: Will boss wheels fit on my 87?
From what I gathered from the Regional Manager, they are not going to sell the existing wheels except for applications inwhich they will actually fit. I guessed right when I said Jeep Grand Cherokee, and that is the only 5x5 application that they have found they fit on.
BTW. I would recommend getting the 20x10 that is available now if you plan on running a staggered application because the new 10" wheel won't be as "deep" to accommodate the thicker mounting pad the center and all will be moved further out in the barrel of the new design. Just a quick FYI. |

Do you have pictures of your fitment and the setup?

Re: will BOSS wheels fit my 87?
I actually almost went that route myself, but because my truck has the HD brakes the rotor/bearing "hat" is a bit larger in diameter and I would have really compromised the integrity of the wheel. I actually took the new, out of the box, '87 rotor to the warehouse with me along with a pair of dial calipers and confirmed that it would really be close as far as remaining material. Plus I don't really want to run a spacer on a truck that has a 1" long wheel stud. I am a firm believer in the more threads holding things together the better . That's why I decided to wait.

Re: will BOSS wheels fit my 87?
ok 20x10 all the way around
basic mods front 1/4 spacer and longer studs rear 1.25 inch spacer (for look only) machined the center of the front wheel larger(don't really know if that helped) machied the rotor where the dust cap is (machied down to the race) turning problems......none dust cap used......no if i would have had the rotor machined down and machined thiner, as i seen someone else do no spacer would have been needed center cap moded..no spindel type western chassie 2.5 mod the spindal.....no looked bad ass.....................................................YES |

Re: will BOSS wheels fit my 87?
Are they making the BOSS 338 20inch in the 5x5 Pattern? I could only go find 18's. So I got the BOSS 304s.
First I tried the 335 20s and those as I'm sure you all no are way off! Anyone else have problems with the centercaps fitting? My dust cover pokes mine out. And I hate to beat the crap out of em. Last edited by lowchevytrucks8503; 07-27-2009 at 08:35 PM. |

Re: will BOSS wheels fit my 87?
No word on a final date for the new designed wheel.
I did find out that the 1" (Light Duty) rotors will work with the Boss 338's. See my thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...352320&page=12
