Throttle Linkage Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I installed a Edlebrock carb and curious if guys are using the stock solid rod throttle linkage or using something else. Any one running the Lokar universal set up? Any pics if you are using the Lokar linkage? This is what I am thinkng of using.

i have edelbrock 750/electric choke carbs on both my trucks with stock throttles... rod on the longhorn and cable on the burb

I buy two of these...

and a length of 1/4 inch rod. Use a die to cut thread on the ends of the rod and assemble. This gives you a very smooth pedal feel and the height of the pedal off of the floor can be adjusted by shortening or lengthening the rod. Total cost is about 10 dollars. Much cheaper than buying Lokar.

Throttle rod and Edelbrock carb. Edelbrock makes a piece just for this application. It is called a 'throttle rod stud' or 'throttle rod shoulder stud'.

I purchased one when I bought my carb. Pictures of it on my truck can be seen here:

The way I figure it Edelbrock pays people good money to solve common problems - one of them being hooking up an old throttle rod stud to one of their carbs. They came up with this stud and it has worked flawlessly for me since day 1.

The Edelbrock 600 that was on my truck when I bought it ten years ago had piece of all-thread that was bent on the end that attached to the carb.....

while it got the job done, it just looked like my old shade tree lawnmower buddy had a hand in hookin' it up.

Great idea...I am running the edel 750 with elect choke...I'll take a look and see how these can be put on. I assume there is a spot to bolt the heim jt to the carb linkage?

I've done this twice, it worked on my 1411 and now I have it on my TBI. Smooth as butter. It's similar to TX's solution, but a little more $$ since it comes with some extra stuff. The springs are pretty strong.

what is that part called in tx firefighter post? and who sell them? auto part store or hardware store? home depot dont carry them
