I have a question about dogdish caps
i just bought 3 dogdish caps from my local junkyard for $30 two have the yellow emblems and the other one has blue emblem. but the yellow ones centers dip in and the blue sticks out. why is this? did they change in the years? here is some pics of them the yellow ones are pretty much perfect besides i need to repaint and the blue one has a few small dings that can be fixed. it sucks because the junkyard only has these 3 i just need one more ha thats life i guess its going to be hard trying to find someone who wants to just get rid of one lol

Re: I have a question about dogdish caps
Are these caps for a 3/4 ton, by chance? If so, I believe the caps that are convex (stick out) are for a truck with a full floater rear, like a Dana 60. I am not sure if these trucks had all four convex, or just the rear. I have seen this mentioned on this forum in another thread by someone who makes front 4x4 caps for 3/4 tons by trimming the centers out of 2wd caps. Also,
I forget which is which, but I ran across a similar issue with different colors on 71 and 72 full wheel covers. One year is blue, the other is yellow. |

Re: I have a question about dogdish caps
The blue convex caps came on 67-72 trucks. The yellow concave ones came on 73-up. You can make the yellow ones match the correct blue ones by painting them and "popping out" the center section. That's what I did on mine.

What local yard do you use? I went scouring last weekend and found nothing.

Re: I have a question about dogdish caps
Good buy on the caps!! Just push out the center on the yellow ones and paint the center blue and your done. The blue is correct for 69-72, and the yellow is 73 and up. Ill look to see if I have one extra one I could sell.

Re: I have a question about dogdish caps
oh really i thought they changed completely in 73 but i guess not. Yes they are 3/4 ton. I went to DVAP go to there wed site they have a location in Casa Grand and Deer Valley i went to the Deer Valley one and they had about 20 of our body style trucks mostly 3/4 ton but there were some half. Thanks Joesjunk I really wanted to buy those you had but i couldnt pass up a deal like this and yeah that would be really helpful if you can find an extra one laying around it can be a 73 and or or 69-72 and paint doesnt matter and a few dents wont either. Thanks for the help guys
