i know with my tahoe shorties don't do squat for it so eventually i'll do long tubes on it but is the same true for our blazers? right now i just have the ram horn manifold.

This has been debated over and over and over especially on the truck side of the forum. I have a negative opinion about headers on a street truck but I will try to keep it mostly to myself. I do want to let you know that these stock ramhorn manifolds are not all that bad, they flow pretty good actually. You can also get the slightly larger diameter "Corvette ramhorns" new for fairly cheap. Some will even argue they flow BETTER than your regular run of the mill header. Either way don't expect any of these options to show you a drastic change in performance on a street vehicle.

Good info there Critter. Yeah I'm not all that sold on them anyways, I was just wondering if it was something I should do while I have this thing pulled out. I guess I'll just stick with what I have.

I'm not a big header fan for a truck either. But if you are going to do it, Heddman is the only one I know made a header that would work with the stock clutch linkage if you have a 4x4.

Having looked at quite a few 63-82 Corvette Headers, it seems that they might work fine for a 4x4 67-72, but this is just eye balling, haven't tested it.

If you are making a max effort horsepower motor, then the full length header is a must have. Otherwise if you want a nice free-flowing street exhaust, the 2 1/2" exit Corvette rams horns and a full length 2 1/2" exhaust is a great setup. I am particularly fond of the Dynomax Hemi Turbos as they are really quiet at idle and cruise but sound great when you are in it.

I'll agree that headers aren't all they're cracked up to be for a street vehicle, but oh the sound! I love a good exhaust system, although most of my own are rusted out, falling apart, broken studs and dragging half the time.... Gotta love Michigan!

I got a set of headman long tubes and they fit great. So far so good.

I agree on the sound, with long tubes, you can't go wrong. But if I were gonna do it (and eventually I will), I'd go with the Vette ram horns with rear exit for flow and for nostalgia.

I have had Thorley Tri Ys on my Blazer for 14 years. Never had no probs. Still look, sound & perform like new/

Doug Thorleys are hand down the best header i have ever run on chevy trucks, Ive used some cheapys that were ok, and did the job fine, but in the long run they almost never hold up over the years.

they are pricy, but if your gonna keep it for a long time they are worth the investemnt.

I had an 84 blazer with stock 305 manifolds, stock cat and stock muffler, with a crate 350,
a 2.5 collector with 2.25 pipes and flowmasters (cuz i had em)

I will use them again,

I gained 3 mpgs in town with thorleys, and a nice dual exhaust system. No Joke

Agreed. The Doug Thorley Tri-Ys are a great header. The Tri-Y design builds great torque on the bottom end. However, on the top end, beginning at about 4000 rpm, horsepower and torque begin to fall off the chart considerably.

Same here, great fit, easy plug changes, etc....I won't run anything but long tube headers on all my vehicles, daily driven or not.
