Need Help Deciding
Hey all, Ive got a chance to buy a straight short step bed for about 50 bucks. It has a wood floor that is mostly missing and it looks to have surface rust only. I currently am in the body work phase and the truck has a long fleet on it as of now. How much work would it be to cut down the frame to mount a SWB step bed onto my LWB frame? And would it be worth it? I remeber a truck I saw on here I believe it was TCB-1's (doug) and it was one of my favorites so depending on the amount of work it is, im in haha.

I agree, for $50 I'd grab it in a heart beat.
As far as shortening your frame, I remember seeing Stacey David on the Gears tv show, do it to a mid 60"s Chevy. You might be able to catch it on his website or maybe Youtube. |

I'd buy the bed either way. If you decide not to use it just resell it and use the extra money towards the build.

Stacey David didn't do it, but the two new guys on Trucks did it to a 66 pickup. Of course, they also shortenend the factory bed as well.
It's an interesting and feasible process as long as you measure, measure, measure, cut, measure some more, tack weld, measure, finish weld and measure again. Then, make sure to box and strengthen your welded araes.
