Brake Pedal Different for Power Brakes?

I am in the midst of redoing the whole braking system on my '77 C10. I thought this may be a good opportunity to upgrade to power brakes. It looks like there are pushrod differences where the master/booster meets with the pedal linkage in the cab. I noticed the manual master has a pushrod that ends in a eyelet where the power master/booster ends in threads. Now I'm wondering of the mounting is different does that mean the pedal ratio needs to be different?

Are there different pedals depending on what brake system you have?

Yes - the brake pedal ratio is typically different between manual and power.

Here is a link to some brake system release charts (for '74, and for '87 in this case).

They should give you an idea of how the parts were released and rolled across the various products.

So basically if I'm going to do it right I will also need a pedal assembly from a factory power brake C10 along with the obvious parts? Are the levers (i.e. between brake pedal and its pivot) different also or is the hole just in a different position?

Simply put you will need to change the pedal also...

What if, you put an early cast iron master on an '87 truck? I changed mine from power to manual disc. I found out the semi hard way that I needed another hole in my pedal. I got a manual push rod from a '74 truck. I just had to pull the pedal assy out for 6th or 7th time to get everything right. Drilled a new hole above the old and welded in a new pivot point. Now, if I can just a get a darn master that isn't a junk rebuild, I'm in business!
