Installing Porterbuilt Stage 1 Front Kit and ran into problem

Decided to brave the heat this weekend and tear into the front of my truck to install the Porterbuilt Stage 1 Front Kit I bought from Pro Performance.

Not sure where to go from here though. The upper A-arm's had been welded to the shaft end nuts. After grinding the welds and removing the end nuts I discovered why they welded it. The threads in the A-arm are gone.

Weighing my options
1. Looking at the Porterbuilt tubular control arms kit.
2. Buy repop A-arms or used
3. Not sure its possible to fix what I got.

Any help would be appreciated

If you're interested in stock arms, we have a set that has already been rebuilt with MOOG shafts and '71-'71 Ball joints and new bump stops installed. They were sandblasted and painted with Eastwood Chassis Black. They are still on the truck (with 0 Miles), but coming off soon to be replaced by Hotchkis upper A-arms. If interested I can post pics.

Porterbuild just released some new arms but for us poor people it looks like a trip to the pick and pull. Probably cost you $25 per arm.

Hey Rob,
Yeah, I would see if you can find some locally on Craigslist or in the classified section on this forum. It is a bummer when things like this happen. If you can possibly go to tubular a-arms, there is definitely an advantage due to the correction of geometry through the travel of the suspension.... not to mention they look cool.

I would see if you can find a good deal on some in the mean time, without spending too much money that could go towards a set of tubular.

Travis - Like to go tubes but funds tight. might hit Teeitup see if he has any lying around

Price upper and lower ball joints.
Then add the price of the stock control arm bushings and cross shaft kits.
Plus the price of used control arms.

This makes the PB tubular arms seem very reasonable.
Plus you can get them narrowed or the NEW "Forward Series" version.

Think that's what I'm going to do. Prob on your build thread last night for 30 min lol. Love those arms on yours and the stance they have give the truck.
