Re: diesel powered c20
Buy a 91.5-93 Dodge 3/4 or 1 ton 2WD cheap and swap the engine and trans into your truck by fabbing up some motor and trans mounts. Then make the dodge radiator fit or adapt the stock rad to the Cummins motor, fuel lines/tank, etc.
Then get in and enjoy. I parted out a 91.5 3/4 4WD for the 12 valve in my 68 and put a NV5600 6 speed behind it with the 91.5 NP205 Trans Case and Dana 60 front axle. A few crossmembers and some new fuel lines and I was on the road. There are plenty of us converted to Cummins motors. Re: diesel powered c20
When I did mine i fabbed the motor and tranny mounts up, 2 electric fans, big block chevy radiator. Motor came out of a 91.5 then put a nv4500 behind it. I also put bags on it to be able to ajust the ride.

Re: diesel powered c20
Diesel swaps and low budget builds don't go hand in hand. Even early dodges with wasted bodies are $4000 and higher around here. 4 bts are impossible to find also, or big $$$. I laugh at the kids on craigslist with wanted adds for 6bts saying they have $1000 limit to spend.

Re: diesel powered c20
Along time ago, a member posted about his c20 with a cummins in it. you might need to travel a bit but they can be had for cheaper that 7k. I sold one not to long ago 92 dodge 250 12v cummins auto 2wd for 1300 . now it needed some work. just to prove a point they can be had and are out there. look into older breadvans for the 4bt, some school buses used the 6bt and most were already p pumps. So a good platform.
do the foot work you can find the deals.

Re: diesel powered c20
It took me three months of looking within 250 miles of SoCal to score my parts truck for $2000 as I was very specific about what I wanted (91.5-93 3/4 or 1 tonSRW 5 speed 4x4). My mounts are pretty simple, stock cummins motor mount bolted to a flat plate that is welded to a new crossmember I built. Should be pics in my thread, if not I'll take some tomorrow while I'm out there.
But it is true, nothing is cheap with diesels. Start pricing gaskets, maintenance parts, and such: instead of nickels and dimes it's Lincolns and Hamiltons.
