Connecting satellite direct to speakers or via amp
I dont want to cut my dash and have heard of poor quality sound with retro looking units. I tried calling Sirius but they connected me to their tech dept. aka India. Does anyone know if its possible to connect an xmsirius unit right to my speakers. Don't mind using an amp. Just don't want to cut my dash or use a wireless transmitter. So I'm trying to figure if there is a way of just bypassing the radio altogether. I'm open to ideas even using an iPhone with pandora but worried about using a ton of data.

I don't really know much about this stuff, but think you may can do it through a certain type of amp. Call Crutchfield & ask , they have an awesome tech line that is usually very helpful.

Re: Connecting satellite direct to speakers or via amp
With a small pre amp that has volume control and that is isolated from the main amplifier one could hook up speakers to the large amp and it would work.
Here is a inexpensive pre amp with volume control that one could hook up a ipod, mp3, iphone etc to with the correct cables......you would have to get some cables that went from a 3.5mm stereo plug to a set of rca plugs going into the big amp. http://electric-avenues.com/audio/amplirider/ chose a inexpensive amp to drive the speakers since the amplirider is 12 volts you would have to put a inline isolation cable between the amplirider and the large amplifier which drives your speakers.... xm has antenna adapters for the portable xm units. it goes in line with the head unit antenna and give a good signal to the radio...
not the same as the fm modulator.
