"How long, has this been goin on?"
So I've been wondering... Is my truck ever going to get finished? Between a recent wedding, house remodel, work really picking up, etc.. It's been super slow going on my build, matter of fact it has came to a complete stop in recent months. I'm still active on the boards when I have time and I'm ready to get out to the shop and get busy, but life has really been getting in the way lately!
So I guess my question is, how long have some of you guys been at it on your trucks? I haven't (and won't) lose steam on the project, just curious how many of y'all are in the same boat as I am. GIVE ME HOPE!!!! Posted via Mobile Device

My K10 has been in the works for over a year. The C10... about 15 years!

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
No worries buddy, a lot of us are there with you. I had planned on my truck being finished within 2 years of getting it. I'm on year 5... Same story, if I have time to work on it, I'm broke, when I have money, I don't have the time. It's a never ending battle, just keep pluggin away at it when you can! Good luck with it!

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
8 years and going. It's a daily driver. I do what I can when I can (and redo some things that I've already done due to not having a plan). But it's coming along, it's mine, and I get complements and requests to buy all the time. If they only knew how much time and money was invested, there is no way I would sell (except if I wanted to quit spending).......

Here's the last time the truck saw the light of day, and also the last time it was semi-assembled lol. It's taken down to just the cab now, just chilling in the shop. I know I'll get back on it. I'm just getting impatient I suppose. Maybe someone can flip this pic that has more computer skills than I do. Thanks for the support guys!!!!!!! Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
Due to SEVERE financial constraints, I've done little or nothing on Ole Brownie. I've starting to get into the mindset that I can do lots of little things that don't cost much, but my "spare time" is all but gone. If you look at the start date and the current date, years have elapsed, not only on my build, but most builds.

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
I have been working off and on my truck for 5 years. Life has a way of getting in the way of my plans. I know I'll never have a SHOW truck but I do want a decent looking DD out of it. I have heard from some smarter people than me- The way to eat a Elephant is one bite at a time!

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
Well I got my truck maybe 8 years agoish. Was my daily driver. then got a motorcycle but had nowhere to work on the truck. then motorcycle got stolen so needed the truck for driving. then son was born. No money and no free time. then got my jeep. but still no free time. NOW my son is 3.5 and can "help" me on the truck. Heck he even told my wife to stop and go away when me and him were changing the fluids the other day. Dang women interruting father/son time. So keep the hope alive...free time and money will come again.

I totally needed this thread right now. Thanks to OP for starting it and to all of you for your contributions!
Oh. Just under 2 years for me so far. I can drive it, but nowhere near where I want it to end up.

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
At first it took me 2 1/2 years to get on the road and then I drove it for 4 and took it apart again 6 1/2 years ago. I am about a month away from getting back finally. If all goes well...

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
I still have not installed the front disc brake kit ,and ball joints that I bought about 4 years ago. The rear end that I got off of my brother in law still sits on jack stands. I have everything but the time to do it or the money to have some one do it for me. " Enjoy the journey"

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
I`ve had my truck now for twenty years, the first go around was quick, three weeks, maybe a month, that was paint, interior, engine, trans, pwer steering and brakes, I was motivated as my other dailey driver was sold awaiting buyer to pick up, now I`m going back thru everything again after 200k on it, slower and older, it just takes longer......

Re: "How long, has this been goin on?"
I've been working on mine, off and on, for 6+ years. It's pretty amazing what it takes to build a pickup without disturbing the patina. For me, it's been about doing the project, not rushing to have it done. '95 Corvette LT1 w/4l60e swap into a '66 1/2-ton Stepside. It's been a lot of fun.
I bought a '70 Z28 basket-case about 6 months after getting married. We just celebrated our <cough> 30th anniversary last week. Probably should get to working on that one, one of these days... |
