2x4 or 3x4 inside the frame

Well I got the z fixed on the 68 has any one done this before put a 2x4 inside the frame and weld it and then cut the bottom off after the bottom is cut won't the cab hit the ground before the frame

Yes it's been done before. On these trucks, the cab will hit the ground so there's not much reason to do it (there's a 3/4" diff between the bottom of the frame & cab).

For 3/4 of an inch I would just weld in a piece of 3/16'' angle iron to the bottom where you cut the frame off.

If you are going to roll your pinch weld up and lay rocker then go with the 2x4
