Question for the 71-72 guys w/ TH 400's

For the guys with Turbo 400's and gas pedal mounted kickdown switches, can you please post pics of how the wiring harness is routed? I thinking it connects to the switch, the fuse block, and the tranny? But how is it routed to get there? My truck(68) was originally a 3 on the tree. But I installed a 72 gas pedal assy. and have a TH 400 but it was never wired up. Thanks for any input.

What wires are you referring to? The trans temp? The kickdown cable will need a bracket attached to the base of the carb or on the back of the intake. Look at summit and search kickdown brackets for sbc.

I am in the same situation. I will look at the harness this week and see if I can figure it out.

There is no kickdown cable with the TH400. It s controlled by a switch on the throttle pedal to the LH side of the tranny by the speedo bullet,

Ah I see! Well I guess I never messed with one! My th400 was in a mud truck and was a manual valve body. I was under the impression the kickdown cable would be the same! I'll be damned.

I've done some more research on the th400 since you posted, basically just to educate myself on mine. I have one that still needs to be rebuilt that is going in my swb. I looked at the Lokar kick down assembly's and they are electronic like you guys mentioned. As far as where it hooks up, this it what I found, hope it helps.

Hey bbcmudtruck,

I don't think you are following us.. The kick down switch in inside the cab, mounted directly to the gas pedal bracket assembly. It is not connected to the carb in any way. Best I can tell, it is only this way in the 71-72 trucks but since I am using a gas pedal from a '72 truck in my '68 this is what I am dealing with. I wouldn't want it on the carb anyway, too cluttered looking. I need to know the route from the switch/ fuse block to the transmission. Where does it exit the cab? Anybody?

Pics are kinda dark but harness runs from pedal over and behind gauge cluster. Pink wire pigtails into back of plug with 10 gauge yel/org wires and org wire runs thru firewall out and down to trans. Mine was too dark to get pic at trans.
