Although I have no first hand experience I've heard nothing but negative feedback and that some vendors have d/c'd them due to poor fitment. If I needed these I'd post a WTB on the parts board for OEM panels rather than buy repro. Good luck, Pete

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

I don't have any but.....I've seen them at the Brothers showroom and I've seen a few installed. They look and fit great. I got a set of OEMs from the board, very nice but after 40+ years they don't fit all that great without several screws to pull them tight against the door. If I needed a set I would not hesitate to get the repops from Brothers.

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

Unless they have completely redesigned them, or a new company is making them, the aftermarket 72 door panels I got a while back were complete crap. Good to know that better stuff is being made now.

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

There are no reproduction '72 GM Truck door panels made. Your best bet will be good used door panels. I have never had a problem with fitment or a need for extra fasteners from any "good" used '72 door panels. I suppose damaged ones could be an issue,so don't buy damaged ones. What you will find available new are "replacement" door panels that are made to go in place of originals. They are made to look somewhat similar to originals and the result is a cheap looking imitation

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

I checked Brothers' site before posting and they still don't appear to offer reproductions.

These are what I was referring to. I guess reproduction implies just like original? Replacement means similar? If i knew they fit well, I would be ok with similar. This is a base model truck and low budget driver build.

Is this the only option? Where is everyone who does a frame off/ high quality build getting them? There cant be that many excellent condition 41 year old panels out there. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

$229 plus shipping is not exactly a low budget option. Yes,reproduction means just that...an item made to replicate the original. Look on the parts board. There are some for sale right now. These were molded in color, but I have had some that were dyed over from factory. Excellent condition is harder to fond, but any that are not "broken" can be refurbished. That's what restoration is,with parts replacement an option if original part is beyond repair. Most are chalky now and that can be fixed with soft media blasting,;ole walnut shell. With an adhesive promoter and vinyl/plastic dye you can color them to your interior color,if you don't find your color. Used '72 door panels go for $75-$150,with the higher end being exc. cond. and ready to install. The fasteners that hold them in place can be bought. The panels that people added screws to simply needed those replaced.

WOW, I'll have to take back what I said about Brothers door panels being very good quality, as you are personally attesting to the quality of these panels, clearly we have seen different Brothers replacement panels.

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

Lee,my reply could be taken out of context if not read along with my other reply. I made no comments on quality, only on how they look. "Cheap looking imitations"...meaning fake, not like originals. The stainless trim doesn't fit,so neither do the w/g inserts. I guess I don't understand why they made them so "almost". Basically, they are no good for a restoration, only fixin' up.

If there are door panels other than what's shown on Brothers' website that you know about,by all means, please share your info. I like to learn. Maybe an answer to Tom's question could help.

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

I have the ones from Brothers on order and should be here this week. I'll let you know when I put them on. They were back ordered

I actually ordered a bunch of stuff from them and everything that has showed up so far is great. $399 and over and you get 15% off. The list keeps getting larger for the next order. Just waiting for the magic number

Re: Blue 72 repro Door panels

I have a set I never installed due to finding originals in great shape. I am out of town until this weekend, but, I can shoot you some pictures if you want. They are bright blue, and I will be much cheaper than Brothers. I bought them from Brothers, they do not have holes drilled for trim. They are base level panels. I think I have the after market arm rest pads too.

Send me a PM, if interested.
