It is out....

Got the engine/trans out today. Now the sh*t work of cleaning 43 yrs of grease/grime off everything starts. That'll be tomorrow's job- the engine, tranny and front clip.

And as is tradition, one thing leads to another. I might get the front lower section of the RS fender repaired while its off. I am thinking real hard about putting it back together with a new rad support and pair of inner fenders. Its going to be a long and expensive couple of days!

Must resist temptation to jump into a full frame off....must resist....

Once the motor lands on the engine stand, the fun begins! Thats my favorite part! My truck came with new inner fenders as well as new rad support. I gotta say, they look pretty darn good! Better than I would have expected aftermarket to look!

Nice work neighbor. Take your time and feet it all clean, you will thank yourself when it's all back together.

P.S. Nice maxima, I've got one just like that.

I could probably get the rad support sandblasted and reuse it (its right on the line) but after I spend the money to get it sandblasted, primed and painted, I've still got a part that's got some pretty thin steel under the battery and have probably got the same cost into it as a decent repro. The inner fenders and just altogether shot up front under the rad support which is a shame because the rest of them are perfect. I found what looks to be a GREAT deal on inners. I'll tell you guys about it after I get mine!

thanks- same deal with you, bring the wife's toothbrush and a jug of degreaser and come on up I-85!

The maxima is our son's. It's OK.... It kind of screws up what we've got going on in the driveway:

The bus (suburban) is a new addition and makes one too many vehicles in the driveway so we either have to lose the 02 Tahoe (which my wife and I both love, what a great truck) or the kid's Maxima and let him drive the Tahoe (which keeps the Tahoe around but I'm scared he won't take care of the Tahoe the way he'd need to).... (or get more concrete in the driveway so we don't have to double park but with all the money I'm putting in this '70 that ain't happening anytime soon)
