Rear Hatch shocks

I have a double wall top and I need shocks for the hatch. The ones I have on right now are not the original and they never had the force to hold the hatch. Does anyone know where I can get some shocks and what Brand/model/part #? Thanks in advance.

Re: Rear Hatch shocks

Fairly certain they aren't reproduced. They arent conventional shocks and I cant think of the correct term but they hold the hatch up and latch to hold the hatch up. To lower, you raise the hatch a hair so they disengage then lower it. I may have and extra set.

Re: Rear Hatch shocks

If they're gas pistons, they're not original. The originals were latching mechanical supports.

Re: Rear Hatch shocks

Hi Timm,

If you do a search for rear hatch hinges or struts you should come across a fellow who found a set for both the heavy Sub door and he found some gas struts that had 1/2 the force that worked for the hatch as well but they came out of or fit a European car.. maybe Volvo or Saab.... it's a few years old but I am sure I saw some part#'s listed...
