Has anyone put one of these in? Newer maplight console.

I had seen somewhere that one was put in but can not remember where. Not sure how many years they were made like this but the pic is from my 03 crewcab. Was curious how the fit was or how much work had to be done to do this. I am wanting to throw in a couple of updated items when I put the interior back in my short bed. Wanting to do the Temp/compass mirror, do the relay conversion on the headlights and windows and maybe this overhead console.

I've got one and the bracket for the roof. The console mounts with push clips in slots on a separate bracket by the windshield. I'll get there one day. Jay

any 99-07 that has the ls package will have that one. i took the one out of my 04 and put a tahoe long one in. i prefer the longer one. to answer your question though the trucks have clips that hold into a bracket in the back. the bracket is not on a base model or the old trucks. theres an easy fix. put an piece of mdf under the headliner doesnt need to be wide but about 9-10 inches long. you can glue it to the roof if you want but usually the headliner will hold it up fine. you then run one screw though the back of the console into the wood. wire up and your done. however if you will look to some 80s s10s and vans you will find a similar console that is more period looking. i did this in my cousins 03 base model with my old one one.

Re: Has anyone put one of these in? Newer maplight console.

I got one from the junkyard for 10 bucks. I grabbed the screw and connector. This style console has two tab opposite end from the lights, I carefully cutout holes for the tabs to slide in and once those are in there is a screw in front of the lights in the front, tighten that down and you're in. I also dyed it black/gray it was tan originally (the material not the actual console). Not bad for having a crappy headliner, but that's for another date. Cheers
