Which Front Bumper Works Best?

Usually, I just go with the feeling.

Since I have both bumpers, I started by running this pre-'71 bumper that got paint at the same time as the rest
of the sheet metal.

I'm not really sure whether I want to stick with it, or go back to the '71 with the turn signals down low.

If I didn't have both bumpers, it'd be an easy choice. But now, while I wait for motor money to grow, I'm itching to get
my hands dirty again....

Anybody like either one of these better than the other?

If you use the early bumper, what will you do for turn signals / parking lamps?

I would think even in Cal it would be illegal to run it without the signals and parking lights.
Myself I like the painted 71 bumper.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

They're mounted inside the grill in the stock hardware...
Did that just in case I wanted to change back.

All operational and legal like!

Oh, okay.... I can't see them so didn't realize they were there.

Actually that complicates it for me. I like the clean look of the early bumper, but would prefer chrome.

Tough choice but I think I'd go with the early bumper. Maybe a darker color though, more like Andy's.

Yeah. Andy's is sweet.

Another design complication for me is that I'm running a roll pan in the rear.
So, it now has the same body color on it that matches the current front bumper.

Possibly, a chrome sport bumper in the rear, and an early chrome bumper up front?

I don't know...but it's fun to figure it out...*Before* I spend some hard-earned $$$$$.

Thanks for the help.

This brings up another question? Is that rear roll pan legal. I know most want get a ticket for them on old hot rods but bumpers are required here in SC.
Just wondering.

Almost nothing is legal in California.
But, I built and drove a '72 C10 passed many a CHP, and no comments.

When my initial test drive found me on the side of the road in this one, the helpful CHP officer spent a
half an hour looking at RAT and complimenting me on the build. Of course, you can't be too "flowery"
about a build when the truck's sitting there broken!!!!

(It was an HEI module)

I vote for the 71/72 bumper. I just think it looks more at home with the eggcrate grill, and I like the chrome as well.

Re: Which Front Bumper Works Best?

Early style, if chrome front and rear is an option, I'll vote that, but I definitely prefer no lights in the bumper.
